You're reading: Kyiv Post to offer two Ukrainian Independence Day special editions

The Kyiv Post's special Independence Day edition, a 24-page supplement to be published on Aug. 19, proved to be so popular that the newspaper will offer another special print edition to commemorate Ukraine's 25th birthday.

The second special supplement will be published on Aug. 26, two days after Independence Day, and include coverage of the celebrations.

“Readers and advertisers alike have told us they want more of this coverage celebrating the good news of Ukraine’s 25th birthday,” said Kyiv Post CEO Luc Chenier. “So we’re happy to oblige. We hope it will be twice as gratifying for the community.”

The Kyiv Post staff has been working extensively to chronicle the highlights of Ukraine’s first 25 years as an independent nation following the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.

“While Ukraine continues to face many problems and challenges, the 25th year as a nation is cause for celebration and that’s what we will do with our expanded coverage,” said Kyiv Post chief editor Brian Bonner. “Our reporting has shown there is a lot to be proud of in terms of patriotism, business, innovation, culture, history, books, movies, sports and so forth. And the good news, quite literally, is too much to include into any single edition.”

Eleks, a global provider of software product engineering services with offices in Lviv, is the general partner of the first supplement on Aug. 19. It is also celebrating its 25th year.

Other advertisers so far include Turkish Airlines, Ukrplastic, CITI Ukraine, 11 Mirrors, Sante, Credit Agricole, the Institute of International Education, American Medical Center and Attika.
