Militants shelled Ukrainian military positions 21 times in the Donbas conflict zone on August 25, the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) headquarters said.

In the Donetsk area, Avdiyivka remains the epicenter of tensions after the enemy fired mortars, various grenade systems and large-caliber machineguns, as well as over 70 howitzer shells of the 122 millimeter caliber, the headquarters’ press center said on its Facebook page on August 25.

More than 80 shells of the 152 millimeter caliber were launched against the village of Arkhanhelske, quite a distance from the dividing line, between midnight and dawn; infantry fighting vehicles were operating near Luhanske, according to the military press center.

In the Mariupol area, enemy fired 120 millimeter mortars banned by the Minsk agreements against Ukrainian army strongholds in Pavlopil and Novomykhailivka; the 82 millimeter caliber was used in Hnutove, the military said. Grenades, large-caliber machineguns and small arms were fired in Maryinka and Shyrokyne.

In the Luhansk area, several attacks were launched overnight, with automatic mounted grenade launchers in Novooleksandrivka and infantry fighting vehicles in Stanytsia Luhanska, according to the press center. “The rest of the day remained quiet here,” the Ukrainian military said.
