As a result of the conflict, 762 civilians and soldiers have gone missing in eastern Ukraine, presidential representative for settling the conflict in Donbas, Ukraine's negotiator in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group Iryna Heraschenko said.

The respective lists were submitted to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Dec. 17, she said.

“The humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group has submitted the list of persons considered missing as a result of the Donbas conflict to the ICRC today. Today this is 762 people (both civilians and military), according to SBU [Ukraine’s Security Service] and lists of the disappeared as prepared by the inter-ministerial center,” she wrote on her Facebook page on Dec. 17.

Heraschenko expressed hopes that upon receipt of the lists, ICRC will join the search for the missing people, and Russian-separatist forces will also submit their respective lists.

“We expect that the other side will also act as agreed in Minsk on December 15, passing the respective lists for a single database to be created and that ICRC will finally be actively engaging in the search for the disappeared and the assistance in identification of the dead,” she wrote.

“A disturbing subject […] But [we] must establish the fate of everyone searched by their family and friends today,” Heraschenko said.
