Ukraine intends to ask for a lift of the ban on imports of products of the Ukrainian confectionary producer Roshen on the condition of strict control of each batch exported to Russia during the relevant talks between Kyiv and Moscow, Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Pryasiazhniuk said.

“Our request will be so that first, a working group from Russia arrives and inspects our enterprises and if there are concerns, it will list them and give us the opportunity to rectify them. Parallel to this, [we request that they] allow temporary exports of the products to Russia with strict monitoring of each shipment,” Pryasiazhniuk said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.

It has been reported that Ukraine and Russia intended to hold talks regarding the situation concerning supplies of Roshen products on August 16.

The Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor banned supplies of Roshen products on July 29. It was initially concerned due to the fact that a toxic substance, benzopyrene, was detected in the products. The Ukrainian producers denied these accusations.
