Kyiv plans to build six new hostels and renovate 12 existing hostels in time for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship in Kyiv, Head of the Euro 2012 Main Office at Kyiv City State Administration Tatiana Slyshyk has told the Ukraine 2012 information agency.

"According to the State Targeted Program of Preparations for Euro 2012 in Kyiv and Kyiv region, major repairs of nine hostels, the restoration of three hostels and construction of six hostels are planned," she said.

She said that at present the Hamalia company has already signed 24 contracts with education establishments to provide 15,393 places to accommodate fans in Kyiv and Kyiv region.

The Education, Science, Youth and Sports Ministry decided to end the present academic year in May in 2012 in order to free up student accommodation during the championship, Slyshyk said.
