Kyiv's Court of Appeals has determined the jurisdiction in a criminal case on the death of Ihor Indylo, and a preliminary hearing of the case is scheduled for Oct. 29, the press service of the Kyiv prosecutor's office reported on Oct. 18.

The case will be considered at Desniansky District Court in Kyiv.

As reported, the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office has completed an additional investigation into the criminal case on Indylo’s death and sent the case to Kyiv’s Court of Appeals to determine its jurisdiction.

Oleksandr Zarutsky, the lawyer for the student’s parents, said that there was nothing new after the additional investigation. The lawyer said that the additional examination had not given a clear answer to what caused the victim’s head injury, how there was blood in his stomach and that additional witnesses had not been questioned.

Zarutsky noted that investigators had recognized that Kovalenko, a person on duty in the district department of police, had failed to call for medical assistance for the victim in time.

As reported, 20-year-old student Indylo died at the Shevchenkivske district department of police in Kyiv in May 2010.
