You're reading: Lagarde: Too early to speak about sum of International Monetary Fund aid to Ukraine

Any discussions about the volume of potential international aid to Ukraine is premature, Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, has told reporters.

The International Monetary Fund is sending a mission to Ukraine this week. It will be headed
by the deputy head of the department of the International Monetary Fund European Department,
Nikolay Gueorguiev, who since Jun. 4 last year has been IMF Mission
Chief for Ukraine.

International Monetary Fund official representative Gerry Rice earlier said that preliminary
discussions about the possibility of providing Ukraine with fiscal aid
involved foreign ministers from Britain and Germany, while International Monetary Fund Director
Christine Lagarde discussed the issue with the finance ministers of the
G-20 member states, including Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
