You're reading: Landik stays in temporary detention facility in Luhansk

Luhansk, Sept. 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Leninsky District Court in Luhansk has left unchanged the measure of restraint for Luhansk City Council deputy Roman Landik, who is accused of beating up model Mariya Korshunova, leaving him in custody at a temporary detention facility in the Leninske district department of police in the city.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that Landik had been removed from the courtroom in handcuffs and taken to a prison van.

The court session was held on Monday morning, but the judge, investigator and the deputy’s lawyer refused to give any details or comment on the court’s decision.

It became clear from unofficial sources that the court had not decided on the measure of restraint for Landik and that the period of his detention had been extended to ten days before the measure of restraint is chosen.

"That’s why he’s in a temporary detention facility, rather than in jail," a source said.
