Moscow is prepared to consider the possibility of negotiations in the Russia-U.S.-EU-Ukraine format, but it wants the agenda for such an event to be determined first, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“Indeed, we are ready to consider a multilateral format, in which Europeans, the U.S., Russia and the Ukrainian side would be represented,” Lavrov said at a press conference after talks with Foreign Minister of Angola Georges Rebelo Chikoti on April 8.

The United States believes that such a meeting could be held “in ten days’ time”, he said.

“[U.S. Secretary of State] John Kerry and I have not discussed any particular date because, as we agreed previously, first it is necessary to achieve certainty concerning this event’s format and its agenda,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov said that he had also held talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier on April 7.
