You're reading: Lawmakers propose opening access to property registers

A group of lawmakers has registered draft law No. 4728 on access to information on ownership rights to immovable property, MP Viktor Chumak (the UDAR faction) has said.

“The opening of the property registers is the most reliable
protection for property owners,” Chumak said, presenting the document.

He said that the adoption of the law would establish absolutely new
relations in the area. He said that the free access to information is
pegged to the land cadastre and one can see not only property, but also
land plots on which the property is located and to whom they belong.

“Actually, these are absolutely new public relations of civil legal relationship,” Chumak said.

He said that free access to the property registers is also the protection from illegal and fraud schemes.
