You're reading: Light training plane crashes near Kyiv, pilot killed, one person injured

A Yak-52 light training plane crashed near the Chaika air field (Petropavlivska Borschahivka) on Saturday, the press service of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine has reported.

The call on the crash was made to the rescue 101 service at 1113 on Saturday.

According to the TV channel, a 44-year old pilot was killed, and a
passenger – a flying cadet– with numerous injuries was taken to hospital
to one of the Kyiv’s hospitals.

The plane did not set on fire after the crash.

Transport police and Prosecutor General’s Office representatives have left for the crash scene.

According to the Fifth TV Channel, a commission is investigating into
the reasons of the crash. Vice Premier Oleksandr Vilkul has gone to the
crash scene.

The Yak-52 light training plane belonged to the Antonov Aeroclub.
