Human Rights Commissioner Valeria Lutkovska has said that she constantly monitors the conditions of detention of former senior officials, including former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and former Acting Defense Minister Valeriy Ivaschenko, the ombudsperson's press service has reported.

She announced this on July 23 at a meeting with former European
Parliament President Pat Cox, External Policies Adviser to the President
of the European Parliament Arnoldas Pranckevicius and Director of the
Max Planck Institute (Germany) Hans-Jörg Albrecht.

“The participants in the meeting also paid attention to the issue
related to the provision of proper detention conditions for Yuriy
Lutsenko and Valeriy Ivaschenko. Valeria Lutkovska informed the guests
that she constantly monitors the conditions of detention of former
high-ranking officials and noted that all complaints and statements that
were submitted by prisoners or their representatives had been rapidly
considered and positively resolved,” the press service of the human
rights commissioner reported.
