The hearing at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) of a complaint lodged by former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko ended on April 17, and both sides expressed their positions, the ex-minister's lawyer, Ihor Fomin, has told Channel 5 by phone.

"The court will make a ruling on the claims," he said.

Fomin said "the court said that we would get the ruling shortly."

"We’ll probably get it by mail," he said.

On April 17, the ECHR started considering a complaint lodged by Lutsenko, who considers that his arrest and detention are unlawful.

Lutsenko was detained near his home on December 26, 2010. On December, 27 Pechersky District Court in Kyiv ordered his arrest due to the fact that "the defendant did not [attend interviews with] the investigator, thus grossly violating the requirements envisaged by a travel ban."

On February 27, 2012, Pechersky District Court in Kyiv found Lutsenko guilty of committing official crimes and sentenced him to four years in prison, with confiscation of his property.
