The defense team of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko is to appeal against the verdict in the criminal case on the poisoning of Third Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko, the ex-minister's lawyer Oleksiy Bahanets has said.

“We are drawing up an appeal, and, if I am not mistaking, the deadline is August 31 or September 1, and we will lodge it on August 29-30,” the lawyer told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

As reported, Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court sentenced Yuriy Lutsenko to two years in prison after convicting him of negligence during the search for Valentyn Davydenko, a driver of the Ukrainian Security Council’s ex-deputy head Volodymyr Satsiuk.
