Serhiy Lyovochkin, the presidential chief of staff, has called on protestors demonstrating against adoption of the new tax code to have patience.

"The demands of the protesters have been registered in the Presidential Administration and will be considered by President Viktor Yanukovych," said Lyovochkin, quoted by the Ukrainian news agency UNIAN in Brussels, where he is accompanying the president at meeting with European Union officials.

Lyovochkin said the adopted tax code has yet to be sent by parliament to the president for his signature.

"As of today, there are no legal grounds for the president to sign the bill," Lyovochkin said.

Protest organizers have demanded the dissolution of parliament and the sacking of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and several deputy prime ministers. They have demanded Yanukovych veto the tax code, threatening to seek his impeachment if he does not do so today.
