Ukrainian government forces have recaptured Dzerzhynsk in Donetsk region from the Russian-sponsored separatists, the press center of the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine said on July 21.

“Vanguard units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have moved into the
[city] of Dzerzhynsk. A Ukrainian flag has been hoisted over the local
administration headquarters. National Guard units are carrying out
measures to localize and destroy remnants of the terrorist bandit
groups,” the press center said on Facebook.

“A large number of militants have been detained, and large amounts of weapons and ammunition have been seized,” it said.

Government forces have also retaken the town of Rubizhne, and “at the
moment National Guard forces are mopping it up,” the press center said.

Government forces were advancing in the morning and early afternoon
on July 21 in the areas of the cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk and
suburbs of Donetsk and Luhansk, it said.
