You're reading: More than half of Ukrainians think Poroshenko should resign due to offshore scandal – poll

The majority of residents of Ukraine believe that President Petro Poroshenko should tender his resignation due to the situation with offshores, according to the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).

According to the report published on the KIIS website, 48.6 percent of respondents answered “yes, he should” to the question whether Poroshenko should resign following publication of the information on his shares in companies created in offshore zones, and 17.5 percent said “he probably should.”

The option “he probably should not” was chosen by 9.3 percent of respondents, 6.3 percent of respondents said “he certainly should not,” and 18.3% were undecided.

The KIIS conducted the poll to inquire about the attitude of society towards recent actions of the president, the appointment of the prosecutor general and the offshore scandal, on May 13-18. The institute polled 2039 respondents in 110 populated localities in all regions of Ukraine via face-to-face interview.
