You're reading: More Ukrainian journalists victims of crime

The number of Ukrainian journalists who were victims of a range of crimes has been growing every year, Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka said during a plenary meeting of the parliament in Kyiv on Friday.

"Every year the number of journalists becoming victims of crime is increasing. Their number was 14 in 2008, 20 in 2009, and 33 in 2010," Pshonka said.

He stressed that most cases involved ordinary offenses not connected with the professional activities of journalists.

The number of crimes related to their professional activities is much less, Pshonka said.

According to him, one such case was registered in 2008, five in 2009, and eight in 2010.
