The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have signed a memorandum of Understanding to strengthen existing cooperation between the agencies as they pursue anti-corruption initiatives.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine reported that on June 29 acting Acting Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI Mathew S. Moon and NABU Director Artem Sytnyk signed the document.

“The FBI and NABU will work together on crimes related to international money laundering, international asset recovery, and Ukrainian high-level official bribery and corruption,” the embassy said.

In February 2016, the analytics and information processing department of NABU with support of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine received equipment to transfer materials of criminal cases from paper to the electronic form from the FBI.

In May 2016, Sytnyk said that FBI instructors will train officers of the NABU special forces department.
