National joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy on Friday has invited companies to participate in natural gas procurement procedures. Gas will be bought in the period from June 20, 2016 through Jan. 20, 2017 using a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Naftogaz said in a press release that bidders are to submit qualification and proposal data before June 10.

“We have started preparing for winter. We intend to buy gas using EBRD’s funds to stably pass the heating season. Today we have announced the preliminary tender for companies that want to supply gas under EBRD rules to us,” Naftogaz said.

The company recalled that last year 11 western companies were preliminary selected. Gas was bought from five companies that offered the minimum price: Noble Clean Fuels Limited, Engie SA, Axpo Trading AG, E.ON Global Commodities SE and Eni trading&shipping S.p.A.

“With the purpose of increasing the number of bidders for this loan, despite setting the expiration date for submitting proposals, the preliminary selection procedure will remain open for new program participants during the entire period when the loan is effective,” Naftogaz said.

As reported, Naftogaz Ukrainy and the EBRD signed a credit agreement for $300 million in October 2015.
