Western partners could initiate the establishment of a NATO Centre for Hybrid War with Russia in Ukraine during its summit in Warsaw in July, according to the Center for Army, Conversion and Disarmament Studies (CACDS).

According to CACDS deputy director Mykhailo Smus, the aforementioned plans are on the present agenda, namely of bilateral Ukraine-U.S. bilateral relations in the defense sector. He said they be discussed during a forthcoming visit of US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter to Ukraine.

Smus said that as a part of the visit, the Pentagon chief will discuss with his Ukrainian partners proposals on cooperation, which will be formalized later during the NATO summit in Warsaw.

He NATO members, if the circumstances warrant, could propose that Ukraine become “an associated partner of the alliance”
