U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch intends to make a trip to Ukraine to get acquainted with the changes taking place in the country and hear what Ukrainians are striving for.

“I look forward to continued cooperation with the leadership of Ukraine: President [of Ukraine Petro] Poroshenko and Prime Minister [Volodymyr] Groysman, with the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and cooperation with the civil society, the public. I believe much has already been achieved, and we in the United States already look forward to the continuation of this fruitful cooperation with the Ukrainian society,” she told journalists in Kyiv.

The ambassador noted she previously lived and worked in Ukraine and is pleased to come back here. She also said during this time “many changes” have occurred in Ukraine.

“The changes Ukraine has managed to perform for the past two years make me optimistic. I think Ukrainians are decisive to move forward following the way of reforms. We agree with the idea that Ukrainians deserve to live in a country that is part of the European continent in peace, integrity and democracy. I believe the United States is a friend and partner of Ukraine and this will continue,” the official added.
