You're reading: Nineteen candidates to run for mayor’s office in Kyiv

  Nineteen candidates will compete for Kyiv mayor's office on May 25. The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered nineteen candidates, Kyiv City Territorial Election Commission reported. In Particular, UDAR party leader Vitali Klitschko, incumbent head of Kyiv City State Administration Volodymyr Bondarenko (nominated by Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union) and head of European Party of Ukraine, lawmaker Mykola Katerynchuk, are the candidates for the aforementioned post.

 In addition, lawmaker Lesia Orobets, Oleksandr Komnatsky (nominated by the Communist Party of Ukraine), lawmaker Andriy Illyenko (nominated by the Svoboda Party), lawmaker and head of “For Ukraine!” Party Viacheslav Kyrylenko also run for the mayor’s office.

Two former chiefs of the capital, Oleksandr Omelchenko and Ivan Saliy, are running as well.

Besides, racing car driver Oleksiy Mochanov, entrepreneur Hennadiy Balashov and mayor of the town of Kalush (Ivano-Frankivsk region) Ihor Nasalyk will also participate in the elections.

CEC has also registered Darth Vader as mayoral candidate representing the Internet Party of Ukraine.
