Moscow, April 27 (Interfax) - Officers of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's department for combating organized crime detained on Monday evening Aslan Usoyan, a notorious Russian criminal leader also known as Ded Khasan (Grandfather Khasan), a law enforcement source told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Usoyan, born in 1937, was detained at the Borispol Airport at about 11 p.m. [local time] on Monday," the source said.

Ukrainian police think that Usoyan used forged documents to come to Ukraine, the source said. "Given this, Grandfather Khasan was detained for illegally crossing the border and illegal presence on Ukrainian territory, where he came, according to operative data, to resolve a dispute with Armenian criminal gangs," the source said.

Under Ukrainian laws the detained may be extradited to Russian and banned from entering Ukraine for five years.

According to the Interpol National Central Bureau at the Russian Interior Ministry, Usoyan is not on the international wanted list.

Interfax is awaiting official comments on the report.
