You're reading: Number of cholera cases in Mariupol rises to 18

Two more cases of cholera have been detected in Mariupol (Donetsk region, Ukraine), over the past 24 hours. Thus, their total number has reached 18, the Donetsk regional sanitary-epidemiologic service (SES) said on July 28.

In all, 26 cholera cases and 18 vibriocarriers of this virus among clinically healthy persons have been registered in Mariupol as of July 28, according to the SES.

Yet another case of cholera was registered in the village of Kalynine, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region.

Twenty-three patients and 11 vibriocarriers were discharged from hospital after recovering. Three patients and seven vibriocarriers (one of them soon to be discharged) are still being treated, their health condition is satisfactory.
