One miner was killed and nine others were injured by a falling pipe at the Kosmonavtiv coalmine owned by the Rovenky-Antratsyt state enterprise in the town of Rovenky in Luhansk Oblast on Thursday morning, the press service of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry has reported.
The accident occurred at a depth of 780 meters when a rope broke during the lowering of a platform with metal pipes.
As a consequence, a pipe fell and killed a miner. At the same time, nine other miners suffered various injuries.
The victim’s body was brought to the surface after one-and-a-half hours.
The mine is now operating normally.
