MOSCOW - Russia's Chief Sanitation Doctor Gennady Onishchenko has announced that two more Ukrainian producers have reported plans of delivering cheese to Russia.

"We have two more cheese makers down the line. We will examine them and decide," he said to Interfax on Friday,May 25.

He said experts are planning to travel to Ukraine to inspect two more facilities and then examine cheese samples at Moscow laboratories after which the question of access to the Russian market will be decided.

Last week the Russian sanitation authorities lifted the embargo on cheese deliveries from four Ukrainian facilities. Cheese samples underwent laboratory checks in Russia.

Earlier reports said that on Feb. 7 Russia imposed a ban on cheese imports from several Ukrainian manufacturers because their output did not meet the Russian standards for milk and dairy products.

On Feb. 27, Onishchenko told Interfax that Ukraine reduced cheese deliveries to Russia by half over complaints over the quality of products by from the Russian sanitation authorities.
