The united opposition and the Mejlis (parliament) of the Crimean Tatar people have signed a statement on cooperation at the parliamentary elections in October 2012.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the document was signed by the
head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev, the
head of the council of the Batkivschyna united opposition, Arseniy
Yatseniuk, and the head of the election headquarters of the united
opposition, Oleksandr Turchynov, in Kyiv on Friday, July 27.

“The Batkivschyna united opposition and the Mejlis of the Crimean
Tatar people will cooperate at the parliamentary elections in 2012 in
ensuring the observance of legislation, equal opportunities for all
participants in the electoral process at all stages, and the honest,
transparent and fair determination of the election results,” reads the
statement.

After signing the document, Turchynov said that the issue of places
in the lists of the united opposition for representatives of the Crimean
Tatars, including the head of the Mejlis, would be resolved at a
congress on July 30.

Parliamentary elections in Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.
