MPs from opposition factions will not accept their salaries for the period of the parliament's inactivity.

“According to the law of Ukraine on the rules of procedure, wages are accrued if parliament works… We will not get salaries over the period of the blocking of the parliament’s work,” Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a briefing on Friday.

He said that during the blocking of the parliament’s work the Regions Party had managed to save a lot of money.

“Due to the fact that the parliament is blocked, they failed to adopt a dozen laws through which they would steal a dozen state facilities, all state ports, Energoatom, complete the privatization of Ukrzaliznytsia, and they did not vote for their lobbying laws introducing amendments to the law on the state budget in order to steal a few billion [hryvnias] in taxpayers’ money,” Yatseniuk said.

Deputy Parliament Speaker Ruslan Koshulynsky, in turn, said that all members of the Svoboda faction would pay 10% of their salaries to a charity fund to help children in need.
