The opposition is planning to set up an ad hoc commission in the Verkhovna Rada to investigate killings committed in Donetsk region in 1995-1998.

"The faction of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and, I think, the OU-PSD faction, will join us in initiating the creation in the Verkhovna Rada of an ad hoc commission to investigate the events of 1995-1998: killings in Donetsk region, as well as the murders of MPs [Yevhen] Scherban [killed in 1996] and [Regions Party MP Yevhen] Kushnariov [who was killed while hunting in 2007]," the chairman of the BYT-Batkivschyna faction in parliament, Andriy Kozhemyakin, said at a meeting of the conciliatory council of the leaders of parliamentary faction and committees in Kyiv on Monday.
Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, in response to Kozhemyakin’s statement, noted that such a commission could be created: "I do not see any problems here."
He proposed that the BYT-Batkivschyna faction put forward its proposals in this regard.
