Over Hr 100 million is needed to repair Vuhlehirsk thermal power plant (TPP) of PJSC Centrenergo, which was damaged in a fire in March this year, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Eduard Stavytsky has said.

“This is less than previously planned, as the main units of the
station are still intact,” he said at the end of a technical meeting on
the restoration of the station held in Svitlodarsk (Donetsk region).

According to the minister, the final estimate of the repair work will
be determined by the end of this month. The repair work at Vuhlehirsk
TPP will be funded using financing from PJSC Centrenergo, which is the
main owner of the station, and state support funds.

The minister also noted that 90% of the equipment to be purchased as
part of the plant repairs is produced by Ukrainian enterprises.

Stavytsky forecast that the first and fourth power units of the station would be launched no later than December 1 this year.

The issue of resuming the work of the heating system in Svitlodarsk
was also discussed at the meeting. The minister said that the government
in the near future would allocate Hr 57.5 million, necessary for the
construction of a boiler facility in the city. This boiler facility will
supply heat to the residents of the city during the 2013/2014 heating
season. After Vuhlehirsk TPP is fully launched in 2014, the city heating
system will operate under the old scheme using the power plant. The new
boiler facility will be used as a backup.
