Pirates have released the MV ZIRKU, a Kuwaiti tanker, with two Ukrainians onboard after receiving ransom, according to the Sovfracht Maritime Bulletin with reference to foreign mass media.
According to unconfirmed information, the ransom was $12 million.
On March 28 Somali pirates seized the oil tanker MV ZIRKU in the eastern part of the Gulf of Aden.
The oil tanker is owned by a shipping company from Kuwait. It was sailing under the flag of the UAE from Sudan to Singapore.
The vessel is carrying 29 crew members – two Ukrainians, a national of Croatia, an Iraqi citizen, a Filipino, an Indian, three citizens of Jordan, three Egyptians, as well as 17 Pakistanis.
