No suspicious items were found on board a plane that arrived at Boryspil Airport on Thursday, in which it was reported a bomb was planted, the media liaisons department of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's main office in Kyiv region told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
Police officers are currently conducting checks in connection with the bomb threat.
“The police received a report from Boryspil Airport that a plane with a bomb planted on board was landing. The competent services, including the bomb disposal service, arrived at the scene. The aircraft and the baggage that was inside were checked. No suspicious items were found,” reads the statement.
The office said that this information had been included in the unified register of pre-trial investigations and that the checks were being conducted due to the fact that there was a report of a bomb being planted on board the plane.
Interfax-Ukraine learned that the issue concerned a plane that was en route from Vilnius to Kyiv. The aircraft is still at Boryspil Airport.
The airport’s press service told the agency said that the bomb report was a hoax.
The airport said that a report of the presence of explosive devices on board a plane heading from Vilnius Airport was received at 0410 Kyiv time on Thursday by the airport’s flight manager. The same information from Vilnius Airport came to the flight managers of five departure airports.
The agency learned that the aircraft, with four crewmembers and ten passengers on board, landed at Boryspil Airport at 0431.
“The airport’s aviation safety service, in strict compliance with the established technologies, checked the plane for [explosive] substances. The plane was taken to a remote taxiway, and passengers and luggage were promptly taken off the plane and taken to a place of inspection,” the airport added.
