You're reading: Police classify shell attack on Odesa TV Channel 7 crew as attempted murder

ODESA – The Main Office of National Police of Ukraine in Odesa region has classified a shell attack committed on the journalists of Odesa TV Channel 7 under Article 15 and Article 115 (attempted murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The police seized three shells from two types of weapons: the rifle and the firearms.

Meanwhile, police also check other versions of the incident, namely a domestic conflict and a conflict because of the journalists’ activities of injured people.

A shotgun was used to shoot the Channel 7 crew near its office in Odesa on May 3, after which the National Police announced an interception plan.

As reported, two cameramen and a journalist were injured in the attack. Their injuries were “very serious,” their colleagues said. They received urgent medical assistance on the spot. Later reports said that police had identified the owner of a Honda car and the shotgun, which was used to shoot the TV journalists. He was a resident of the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky in Odesa region.

Channel 7 is one of the oldest TV channels in Odesa. At various times, it was affiliated to his ex-mayors of Odesa Ruslan Bodelan, Eduard Hurvits, and Oleksiy Kostusev. Now the channel is associated with businessman Adnan Kivan.
