Police detained a second suspect in the murder of a judge of Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky District Court, Serhiy Zubkov, in the early hours of Saturday, March 26, the public liaisons center of the Main Department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in Kyiv has reported.

"[The police] seized from the detainee material evidence directly indicating his involvement in the crime," the capital’s main department of the Interior Ministry reported and added that the detainee is a young resident of Kyiv.

According to the source, the criminals thoroughly planned the murder: they tracked the routes and means of transportation of the victim, his work schedule, daily schedule, and watched his family. While committing the crime they pretended to be medical workers and even used portable radio transmitters.

The forensic medical examination discovered that in addition to having been shot and stabbed with a knife, Zubkov was also injured with an awl.

"As for the reason for the murder, it was [a ruling] announced by the judge, and neither of the sides was satisfied with it. This [reason] was simple revenge," the police said.

Zubkov, born in 1968, was killed in the evening of March 21 in the building where he lived. There were two stab wounds on his chest and body and three more on his neck, the police reported. On March 24, Ukrainian Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov informed that the police detained a person "who was reasonably suspected of committing this crime."
