Brussels – The European Union should sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine, as it is an important step towards further rapprochement of Kyiv and Brussels and Warsaw, Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Jerzy Pomianowski has said.

Pomianowski was representing Poland at a sitting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

“We think that the signature of the Association Agreement is an important step towards further rapprochement of Ukraine and Poland and Europe. Poland and Europe should sign it despite the doubts Europe has. We should keep in mind that this is a signal for the whole of Ukrainian society,” he told journalists in Brussels on Monday.

The Polish diplomat said the document is a plan for future cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

As reported, the EU Foreign Affairs Council held a sitting on November 19. All 27 member states of the EU discussed the situation in Ukraine after the recent parliamentary elections at the sitting.
