President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski is to visit Ukraine soon, MEP Pawel Kowal has said in an interview with Ukrainian television's Channel 5 on Nov. 23.

He noted that Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt made an unofficial visit to Donetsk on Nov. 23 to meet with Ukrainian businessman and Regions Party MP Donetsk Rinat Akhmetov.

"This meeting could be a signal to the economic environment of Ukraine, which plays an important role in the country, and a reminder that no other country outside the EU has received such good proposals from the organization," he said.

Kowal also stressed that the meeting in Donetsk was also important for the preparations for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

"Now we, the Poles, feel that a historical moment has come to Ukraine. And my work, the work of the Polish foreign minister and the upcoming visit of the Polish president to Ukraine show that we are very concerned," Kowal said.
