Some 24% of Ukrainians are ready to defend their country with arms, while 27.5% by participating in the volunteer movement, and 30.4% are not ready to defend their country, according to a survey by the Razumkov Center, presented at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

Asked about what decision they will make if they, their family or relatives receive military summons, 25.8% of the respondents expressed their intention to come to the military enlistment office and be prepared for mobilization because the protection of the motherland is an honorable duty, 16.1% will come to the military enlistment office and will be ready for mobilization because in case of refusal they could be brought to justice.

Some 15.2% of citizens intend to ignore the summons even if there is the threat of prosecution because they do not trust Ukrainian authorities who “are fighting only in words,” 13.4% will also ignore the notice not being afraid of responsibility because “it’s not a war but a punitive operation of the government against its own people.”

Some 44.7% of Ukrainians said that in 2014-2015 they provided voluntary assistance to the Ukrainian army, the National Guard and volunteer battalions, while 35.3% of them did not provide such assistance. Some 15.3% of the respondents helped wounded soldiers, 14.4% provided aid to the refugees from Crimea and eastern Ukraine.
