The system of parking zones in Kyiv will be regulated, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said.

“The draft program on single parking space will be submitted for consideration by Kyiv City Council deputies this autumn so that the city could start implementing this program next fiscal year,” the administration’s press service reported on Wednesday.

Experts from the municipally-owned KyivTransParkServis enterprise are developing the program.

“We envisage about UAH 1 billion being invested in the implementation of the program on single parking spaces in 2013-2014. Our task is to create such an environment in the city in which it will be convenient for pedestrians, passengers of public transport and car owners to move. Here we are focusing on the development of public space, the components of which are traffic-free sidewalks and pedestrian walkways, and separate lanes for public transport. Ultimately, we should finally resolve the problem of parking lots in the central part of the city,” Popov said.
