Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in a telephone conversation with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel has stressed the importance of consolidating the entire Europe not only in the matter of preserving sanctions against Russia, but also in tightening them if the situation in Donbas deteriorates.

“The Ukrainian president expressed his deep concern over the sharp escalation of the situation in Donbas and a surge in the number of deaths due to Russian militants increasing the number of shelling using large-caliber weapons and the continued supply of Russian weapons to them,” Poroshenko’s press service reported.

The president also spoke about the intensification of activities of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

In addition, Poroshenko pointed to the permanent violation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
