President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has dismissed judge of Pechersky District Court of Kyiv Rodion Kiryeyev, who changed a measure of restraint for Ukraine's ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko and also ruled a verdict under the case on Russia gas supplies contract.

The respective decree as of Jan. 18 was posted on president’s website on Jan. 19.

According to the president’s press service, the High Council of Justice made up a conclusion that at the time of consideration of the criminal case against Tymoshenko, judge Kiryeyev unreasonably changed the measure of restraint from a written undertaking not to leave a place to putting into custody that caused her illegal imprisonment. These actions of the judge led to violation of the fundamental human right to freedom and became the basis for passing by the European Court of Human Rights decision against Ukraine, which caused damage to the authority of the judiciary and the state of Ukraine. This decision has caused considerable public outcry. The High Qualification Commission of Judges received more than 800 complaints from citizens.
