Novi Petrivtsi (Kyiv region) - Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko has presented modern military equipment to the servicemen of the National Guard.

“Today, we have demonstrated that Ukraine has [the means] to protect
its state. The first special brigade of the National Guard has received
tanks, the most up-to-day BTR-3 and BTR-4 [armored personnel carriers] and the latest Cougar armored vehicles, which are made in Ukraine,”
Poroshenko said at the training base of the National Guard of Ukraine in
Novi Petrivtsi village of Kyiv region on Saturday.

The president noted that the equipment could perform tasks particularly connected with change of military action tactics.

“When liberating heavily armed Dzerzhynsk, our detachments made it
possible to avoid a great number of victims among both peaceful citizens
and servicemen,” he said and added that performance of raiders of
Ukrainian Armed Forces and special operations unit of the National Guard
had stood out.

According to the president, in the nearest future, after finishing
training “very well equipped Ukrainian soldiers will contribute to the
victory.”

“I’d like to point out that those, who will go into battle, including
those of the third wave of partial mobilization – are wearing new
uniforms, protected with tested bulletproof vests of the corresponding
class, and are [well] fed and ready to defend Ukraine,” head of state
said.

According to the president, today’s National Guard, Armed Forces and
border troops of Ukraine were formed over the last two months.

He also said that it was safe to say that Ukrainian soldiers were
real liberators, as is evident by the reaction of local population upon
meeting them.

“This is how Ukraine’s internal image is formed. This is how it’s
confirmed that in no way is this an internal conflict,” Poroshenko said.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, the president gave national awards to the servicemen of the National Guard.
