The European Union will consider a number of issues related to Ukraine on December 16, Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko has said.

“We have decided and agreed with the president of the European Commission and the president of the European Council that a minisammit with the participation of the two presidents and key EU commissioners will be held on December 16, where not only issues of visa-free regime, but also issues of the introduction of a deep and comprehensive free trade area starting from January 1, 2016, will be considered,” the president said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels aired on Dec. 6 evening.

According to him, an agreement was reached on a number of important issues related to trade and energy, including the issue of the North Stream-2 gas pipeline.

As for the extension of sanctions against Russia, Poroshenko believes that the EU will take this decision.
