An activist from Ukrainian parliamentarian and leading presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko's campaign staff has been severely injured in Makiivka, Donetsk region, Poroshenko told journalists in Kruty on May 16.

“I’ve just been informed that members of elections commissions
representing me in Luhansk region have been taken hostage. My
representative in the town of Makiivka was shot at last night,” he said.

Poroshenko claimed that his representative was severely injured. “He
was beaten brutally and had his ribs and nose broken and suffered a head
injury,” he said.
