“Today there is an important and solemn event in the life of Ukrainian special forces soldiers, which is the fruit of the joint and coordinated work of many people. Today I’ve signed the law, which completes the process of creating the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.

The head of state stressed it is “absolutely essential in terms of protecting Ukraine against Russian aggression” and called the law “the requirement of time to make protection of Ukraine much more effective.”

The law defines the legal status and use of special operations forces independently or in conjunction with other types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for special operations to create favorable conditions for successful military-political, economic and other activities in the interests of national security in the field of national defense.
