You're reading: Poroshenko suggests to have OSCE inspectors at roadblocks of Luhansk and Donetsk regions

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at his request had a phone conversation on June 21 with President of the Swiss Confederation, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Didier Burkhalter, according to the press service of Head of State.

Poroshenko stressed the importance of efficient monitoring and control of the ceasefire regime.

“Petro Poroshenko offered to ensure the presence of OSCE Special
monitoring mission inspectors located in Ukraine at each of more than a
hundred roadblocks,” the president’s press service reported.

In turn, Didier Burkhalter expressed support for the peace
initiatives of the President of Ukraine on the settlement of the
situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, particularly for the decision
to call a ceasefire aimed at the further implementation of the peace
plan announced by Ukraine.

According to the press service, “Burkhalter invited the President of
Ukraine to take part in the OSCE annual security conference in Vienna on
June 24, 2014.

“Petro Poroshenko expressed gratitude for the invitation, stressing
that this is an important initiative. The Head of State instructed
Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin to take part in this event,” reads the
press service’s statement.
