You're reading: President approves plan on introducing visa-free regime with European Union

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has approved a national plan to implement an action plan on the liberalization by the European Union of the visa regime for Ukraine.

The head of state signed a respective decree signed on Friday, his press office reported.

According to the document, the Cabinet of Ministers was ordered to implement the national plan and provide monthly reports on the respective measures.

The decree is aimed at creating the conditions for introducing a visa-free regime for short-term travel by Ukrainian citizens to EU member states and ensuring the implementation of the action plan for the liberalization by the EU of the visa regime for Ukraine, which was adopted at the EU-Ukraine summit on November 22, 2010.

The decree takes effect on the date of its publication.
