The wife of former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, Iryna, has said that the State Penitentiary Service has denied U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft a meeting with her husband in prison.

“A week ago I was contacted by a representative of the U.S. ambassador. He said that the Prison Service had again refused the ambassador a meeting with Lutsenko, referring to the fact that Lutsenko has used up the number of visits he was entitled to get in October,” Lutsenko’s wife told the Ukrayinska Pravda Internet publication.

She said that this was no t true and her husband had not met with anybody in October yet.

She also said that her husband still had health problems.

“He was examined and confirmed that he had serious problems with the pancreas, his liver was increasing, erosions and ulcers remained,” Iryna Lutsenko said.
