You're reading: Prokhorov calls for international inquiry into Kyiv snipers

The founder of the Civil Platform party, billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, has called for the newly discovered facts about Maidan snipers to be investigated by an international commission.

“First of all, I am calling on the European Union and the United
States to investigate jointly with Russia the newly discovered facts
about the snipers on Maidan,” Prokhorov wrote on his Facebook page on
Thursday.

No struggle for the bright ideals is worth human sacrifice, and the
murders of people must be investigated by an international commission,
he said.

Furthermore, Prokhorov drew attention to the economic problem.

“Supporters will forgive me for quoting Lenin: politics is a
concentrated expression of the economy. The Ukrainian economy is
currently balancing on the brink of a disaster. What matters is that
neither Russia, nor the EU, nor the U.S. has enough resources to solve
the problems that are already being gauged at $130 billion,” Prokhorov
said.

I am trying to work out a model that can lead the situation out of
the crisis, he said. “The Ukrainian economic crisis will reflect on
everyone – both Russia and the EU, and however self-confident the States
are, the crisis will affect them too,” Prokhorov said.

The problem will have to be resolved jointly because the longer it
takes the global community to find a solution, the higher the price, he
added.

“I am talking about the human, not financial, price: the economic
downfall will be followed by a drop in living standards, the global
community has no right to let the humanitarian disaster to happen,”
Prokhorov said.
