Former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko will have to pay compensation for damage caused to NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy under the gas case as soon as the verdict is executed.

“This will take place as soon as the verdict is executed,” prosecutor
Oksana Drohobytska told journalists, when asked when Tymoshenko has to
pay the compensation to NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy to fulfill the court
ruling in the gas case.

When asked whether Tymoshenko has chances to win in the European
Court of Human Rights, the prosecutor said: “It’s up to the European
Court.”

As reported, Pechersky District Court in Kyiv sentenced Tymoshenko to
seven years in jail on October 11, 2011, on charges of abuse of
authority while negotiating gas contracts with Russia in 2009.

In addition, the court compelled Tymoshenko to pay Hr 1.5 billion to
Naftogaz Ukrainy for the losses and forbade her from holding public
posts for three years.
